About Christian Giudicelli

Christian Giudicelli (1942-2022) was a French novelist, literary critic, and playwright born in Nîmes, whose intimate and melancholic works often drew from personal experiences and travels. His most notable novel, Station balnéaire (1986), won the prestigious Prix Renaudot, and he later served on the jury for that prize from 1993 as well as for the Prix Contrepoint; earlier, Une affaire de famille (1981) earned the Prix Valéry Larbaud. Despite a prolific career including over a dozen novels, plays, and contributions to major literary publications like La Nouvelle Revue française, his later works received limited readership.
