About Charlie Jane Anders

Charlie Jane Anders is an American science fiction and fantasy author and co-founder of the science fiction news website io9. She won the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel for The City in the Middle of the Night (2020) and the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel for All the Birds in the Sky (2017), which also won the Nebula Award. Anders was born in 1969 in Boston and is a prominent advocate for trans rights and LGBTQ+ representation in speculative fiction. Her work is celebrated for its hopeful, humane tone and its ability to blend SF and fantasy elements with emotional intimacy. She is the author of the Unstoppable trilogy for young adults, as well as numerous short stories and the essay collection Never Say You Can't Survive. She lives in Oakland, California.
