Charles Edward Russell (1860–1941) was an American journalist, muckraker, and political activist renowned for exposés like "The Greatest Trust in the World" on the meatpacking industry, which inspired Upton Sinclair's The Jungle, and for co-founding the NAACP. He authored over 30 books, including notable works such as Lawless Wealth and his autobiography Bare Hands and Stone Walls, and received the 1928 Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography for The American Orchestra and Theodore Thomas.
