Chapman Mortimer

Chapman Mortimer was the pen name of Scottish novelist William Charles Chapman Mortimer (1907-1988), best known for his novel Father Goose, which won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction in 1951. Born on May 15, 1907, in Partick, Lanarkshire, Scotland, he authored several novels including A Stranger on the Stair (1950), Young Men Waiting (1952), and Mediterraneo (1955), and co-wrote the screenplay for the 1967 film Reflections in a Golden Eye directed by John Huston. He died on December 13, 1988, in Huskvarna, Sweden.
