Catherine Drinker Bowen

Catherine Drinker Bowen (1897-1973) was an acclaimed American biographer known for her vivid, partly fictionalized historical biographies. Notable works include Yankee from Olympus (1944), a Book-of-the-Month Club selection on Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes; John Adams and the American Revolution (1950); and Miracle at Philadelphia (1966) on the Constitutional Convention. She won the National Book Award for Nonfiction in 1958 for The Lion and the Throne (1957), among other honors like the Women's National Book Association Award.
