About Carol Emshwiller

Carol Emshwiller (1921-2019) was an American author renowned for her avant-garde science fiction and fantasy short stories and novels, beginning her career in the mid-1950s with works appearing in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and Orbit anthologies. Notable works include the novels Carmen Dog, The Mount (Philip K. Dick Award winner), and Ledoyt, as well as collections like The Start of the End of It All (World Fantasy Award) and stories such as "Creature" and "I Live With You" (Nebula Awards). She received the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 2005 and was praised by Ursula K. Le Guin as a major feminist fabulist.
