About Carmen Kurtz
Carmen Kurtz (1911-1999), born Carmen de Rafael Marés in Barcelona, Spain, was a prolific Spanish author known for both adult novels and popular children's literature, particularly her Óscar series featuring a boy and his pet goose Kina, which gained fame in the 1960s. She won the prestigious Premio Planeta in 1956 for her novel El desconocido and other awards including the Premio Ciudad de Barcelona for Duermen bajo las aguas (1955) and the Premio Lazarillo for Color de fuego (1964) Spanish English IMDb, Cervantes Virtual.
