About C. Vann Woodward
Comer Vann Woodward (1908–1999) was an American historian renowned for his work on the American South and race relations. His most notable works include The Strange Career of Jim Crow, Origins of the New South, 1877–1913, and Mary Chesnut's Civil War, the latter earning him the Pulitzer Prize for History in 1982; he also received the Bancroft Prize for Origins of the New South.
