About C. L. Polk
C.L. Polk is a Canadian author of fantasy and science fiction known for the Kingston Cycle, beginning with Witchmark (World Fantasy Award winner, 2019). Witchmark is a secondary-world fantasy set in a world inspired by post-World War One Britain, featuring magic, conspiracy, and a sapphic romance. It was celebrated as a fresh and emotionally resonant entry in gaslamp fantasy. Polk was born in 1971 and lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Their fiction is known for its warm characterization, intricate political plotting, and LGBTQ+ representation. The Kingston Cycle continued with Stormsong and Soulstar. They have also published the standalone novel A Psalm for the Wild-Built—no, that's Seanan McGuire. Polk's other work includes the SF novel The Midnight Bargain, a Locus Award finalist.
