About C. D. Wright

Carolyn D. Wright (1949–2016) was an American poet born in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She published over a dozen books of formally innovative poetry, often blending documentary elements with meditations on the American South, race, and incarceration, and taught at Brown University as the Israel J. Kapstein Professor of English. A MacArthur Fellow and winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award for One With Others, she was a pioneering figure in documentary poetics.
