Brit Bennett is an American novelist born in 1990 in Southern California. She graduated from Stanford University and earned an MFA from the University of Michigan. Her debut novel The Mothers (2016) was widely praised. Her second novel The Vanishing Half (2020) became a New York Times bestseller, was longlisted for the Booker Prize, and won the Alex Award and the Aspen Words Literary Prize. Bennett writes about race, identity, and family in America.
