Brian Moore

Brian Moore (1921-1999) was a Northern Irish novelist and screenwriter, born in Belfast, who emigrated to Canada and later the United States, acclaimed for his depictions of Catholic life in Northern Ireland, the Troubles, and crises of faith. His most notable works include The Lonely Passion of Judith Hearne (1955), The Great Victorian Collection (1975, James Tait Black Memorial Prize and Governor General's Award), Black Robe (1985), The Colour of Blood (1987, Sunday Express Book of the Year), and Lies of Silence (1990), with three Booker Prize shortlistings. Graham Greene called him his favorite living novelist.
