About Brian Broome
Brian Broome (born March 24, 1970) is an American memoirist, poet, and screenwriter from Ohio, best known for his debut memoir Punch Me Up to the Gods (2021), which won the Kirkus Prize for Nonfiction, the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Memoir/Biography, and the Randy Shilts Award for Gay Nonfiction, among others. He has also received the Martin Luther King, Jr. Writing Award and the VANN Award for his prose and journalism. Broome holds an MFA from the University of Pittsburgh and serves as Writer in Residence at St. Mary’s College.
