Brenda Peynado

Brenda Peynado is a Dominican American author born in 1985, known for her genre-bending fiction blending literary realism, magical realism, fabulism, and science fiction, often exploring Latina girlhood, class, race, and commodity culture. Her notable works include the short story collection The Rock Eaters (Penguin, 2021), named one of NPR and NYPL's best books of the year, and the novella Time's Agent (Tordotcom, 2024), winner of the 2025 Philip K. Dick Award; her stories have appeared in Tor.com, The Georgia Review, and others, earning an O.
