Bill Beverly

Bill Beverly is an American author and English professor who won the CWA Gold Dagger for his debut novel Dodgers (2016). The novel follows a group of young gang members from Los Angeles driving across America for a job, and was widely praised as a singular debut combining crime fiction with literary ambition. Beverly teaches at Trinity University in Washington, D.C. Dodgers was his first published novel and brought him immediate critical recognition, including the CWA Gold Dagger and the Crime Writers of Canada Arthur Ellis Award. He is known for his stylistic inventiveness and his nuanced portrayal of young Black men navigating a society stacked against them. Beverly has published limited fiction since Dodgers but remains a respected voice in literary crime fiction circles.
