Betty Lorraine Fladeland (1919–2008) was an American historian and author renowned for her works on the antislavery movement, including James Gillespie Birney: Slaveholder to Abolitionist (1955), Men and Brothers: Anglo-American Antislavery Cooperation (1972), and Abolitionists and Working-Class Problems in the Age of Industrialization (1984) SIU News, Legacy Obituary.
