Beth Macy (born c. 1964) is an American journalist and non-fiction author best known for her national bestsellers including Dopesick (2018), Factory Man (2014), Truevine (2016), Raising Lazarus (2022), and Paper Girl (2025), which explore social issues like the opioid crisis, globalization, and rural America. She has received major awards such as the Nieman Fellowship at Harvard (2010), Guggenheim Fellowship (2023), J. Anthony Lukas Work-in-Progress Award, and a Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Dopesick, and served as executive producer for the Hulu adaptation of Dopesick. Penguin Random House
