Bernard Privat

Bernard Privat (1914-1985) was a French writer, poet, and influential publisher who directed Éditions Grasset for over 25 years, publishing notable authors and overseeing a Prix Goncourt winner. He received the Prix Aurel from the Académie française in 1945 for his poetry collection Cet ange en moi and the prestigious Prix Femina in 1959 for his novel Au pied du mur. His works blend poetry, novels, and translations, reflecting experiences from his time as a WWII prisoner of war.
