About Beni Montresor

Beni Montresor (1926-2001) was an Italian author, illustrator, and set designer renowned for his contributions to children's literature and opera. He won the prestigious Caldecott Medal in 1965 for illustrating May I Bring a Friend? by Beatrice Schenk de Regniers, his most notable work, and was knighted by the Italian government in 1966 for his artistic achievements; he also authored and illustrated books like The Witches of Venice and adaptations of The Magic Flute and Cinderella.
