About Barry Hughart
Barry Hughart (1934-2019) was an American fantasy author best known for his Chronicles of Master Li and Number Ten Ox series, including Bridge of Birds (1984), which won the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel in 1985 and the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award in 1986, as well as The Story of the Stone (1988) and Eight Skilled Gentlemen (1990). Before writing, he served in the U.S. Air Force, worked in military surplus, and managed a bookstore.
