About Arthur C. Clarke

Sir Arthur C. Clarke (1917-2008), an English science fiction writer, futurist, and inventor, is best known for his novel and co-written screenplay for 2001: A Space Odyssey, as well as works like Childhood's End and Rendezvous with Rama. He proposed the geostationary satellite communication system in 1945, earning the moniker "Prophet of the Space Age," and won multiple Hugo and Nebula Awards, including for Rendezvous with Rama and The Fountains of Paradise. Knighted in 1998, he lived in Sri Lanka from 1956 until his death.
