Arménio Vieira

Arménio Adroaldo Vieira e Silva (born 29 January 1941 in Praia, Cape Verde) is a Cape Verdean poet, writer, and journalist who began publishing in the 1960s in various magazines and newspapers. He is best known for his poetry, including works like Poemas (1981) and MITOgrafias (2006), and gained international recognition as the first Cape Verdean to win the prestigious Camões Prize in 2009 for O Poema, a Viagem, o Sonho. His writing often blends poetic innovation with cultural and universal themes.
