About Annie M.G. Schmidt

Anna Maria Geertruida "Annie" Schmidt (1911–1995) was a Dutch writer hailed as the queen of Dutch children's literature. Best known for her children's books like the Jip and Janneke series and Pluk van de Petteflet, illustrated by Fiep Westendorp, she also wrote songs, plays, and scripts, earning the 1988 Hans Christian Andersen Medal and inclusion in the Canon of the Netherlands.
