About Anne-Marie Garat

Anne-Marie Garat (1946–2022) was a French novelist renowned for her psychological novels featuring strong female protagonists set against 20th-century historical backdrops, such as the World Wars and interwar periods. She achieved major literary success with the Prix Femina for Aden (1992), Prix Marguerite-Audoux for Les mal famées (2000), and Prix Alain-Fournier for Chambre noire (1990), among other accolades including the Prix Anna-de-Noailles and Prix Franz-Hessel.
