About André Schwarz-Bart

André Schwarz-Bart (1928-2006) was a French novelist of Polish-Jewish ancestry whose debut novel Le Dernier des justes (1959; The Last of the Just) won the prestigious Prix Goncourt and chronicles a Jewish family's suffering from the Crusades to Auschwitz. (1967).
