André Obey

André Obey (1892–1975) was a French playwright renowned for interwar dramas including Noah (Noé), The Rape of Lucrece (Le Viol de Lucrèce), and The Battle of the Marne (La Bataille de la Marne), the latter earning him the Brieux Prize in 1931. Initially a novelist with his autobiographical Le Joueur de triangle, he shifted to theatre after collaborating with Jacques Copeau and served as administrator of the Comédie-Française from 1945 to 1947. His works achieved international success, with several productions on Broadway.
