About Amitav Ghosh
Amitav Ghosh (born July 11, 1956, in Calcutta, India) is an acclaimed Indian author best known for his historical fiction novels such as the Ibis Trilogy (Sea of Poppies, River of Smoke, Flood of Fire), The Shadow Lines, and The Glass Palace, as well as non-fiction works like The Great Derangement on climate change. He has received India's highest literary honor, the Jnanpith Award (2018, first English-language writer to win), the Padma Shri (2007), the Sahitya Akademi Award, Arthur C. Clarke Award, and the 2024 Erasmus Prize, among others.
