About Amanda Vaill
Amanda Vaill is an American biographer, journalist, and Emmy-nominated screenwriter best known for her non-fiction works including the bestselling Everybody Was So Young (1995), a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist; Somewhere: The Life of Jerome Robbins (2006); Hotel Florida (2014); and Pride and Pleasure: The Schuyler Sisters in an Age of Revolution (2025). A graduate of Radcliffe College/Harvard University, she transitioned from book editing at Viking Penguin to full-time writing, earning fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, NYU’s Center for Ballet and the Arts, and the Cullman Center, while contributing to publications like the New York Times Book Review. She resides in New York City and has also written award-winning documentaries such as Jerome Robbins: Something to Dance About, which won an Emmy and Peabody Award.
