Amanda Peters

Amanda Peters is a Canadian author of mixed Mi'kmaq and European ancestry, born around 1977 and raised in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley as a member of the Glooscap First Nation. Crimson. Her debut novel The Berry Pickers (2023), which explores the disappearance of a Mi'kmaq girl and its lasting impacts, won the 2024 Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, the 2023 Barnes & Noble Discover Prize, the 2024 Crime Writers of Canada Award of Excellence, and the 2024 Dartmouth Book Award, among other honors. Quire. She followed it with her short story collection Waiting for the Long Night Moon (2024), after earlier Indigenous Voices Award wins for short fiction.
