About Ama Codjoe

Ama Codjoe (born 1979) is an American poet, dancer, and social justice activist raised in Youngstown, Ohio, with roots in Memphis and Accra. She is the author of Bluest Nude (2022), winner of the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize and Whiting Award, and Blood of the Air (2020), winner of the Drinking Gourd Chapbook Poetry Prize. Her honors include fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and Rona Jaffe Foundation, and she served as Poet-in-Residence at the Guggenheim Museum in 2023.
