Álvaro Enrigue

Álvaro Enrigue is a Mexican novelist, short-story writer, and essayist born in Guadalajara in 1969. His novels include Sudden Death and You Dreamed of Empires, a New York Times Top 10 Book of the Year. He has taught at Hofstra, Princeton, NYU, and Columbia, and lives in New York City. Now I Surrender, translated from the Spanish by Natasha Wimmer, was longlisted for the 2026 National Book Award for Translated Literature.
