About Alistair MacLeod

Alistair MacLeod (1936-2014) was a celebrated Canadian author renowned for his masterful short stories evoking Cape Breton's landscapes and Scottish immigrant heritage, with notable works including the collections The Lost Salt Gift of Blood (1976), As Birds Bring Forth the Sun (1986), and his prize-winning novel No Great Mischief (1999). His novel won the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award (2001), and he received honors such as Officer of the Order of Canada (2008) and the PEN/Malamud Award (2009).
