About Alice Notley

Alice Notley (1945-2025) was an American poet renowned for her experimental epics and association with the second generation of the New York School of poetry. Her most notable works include The Descent of Alette (1996), Mysteries of Small Houses (1998), and Grave of Light: New and Selected Poems 1970-2005 (2006), and she received major awards such as the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize (2015), Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize (2007), Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Poetry (1999), and was a Pulitzer finalist.
