Chandler Jr. (1918-2007) was an American business historian renowned for his studies on the management structures and scale of modern corporations, redefining the economic history of industrialization. His most notable works include Strategy and Structure (1962), recognized as one of the most influential management books of the 20th century, and The Visible Hand: The Managerial Revolution in American Business (1977), for which he won the Pulitzer Prize for History. A professor at Harvard Business School and Johns Hopkins University, he was called "the doyen of American business historians" and was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society.com
