About Alexei Panshin

Alexei Panshin (1940-2022) was an American science fiction author and critic best known for his Nebula Award-winning novel Rite of Passage (1968) and, with his wife Cory Panshin, the Hugo Award-winning critical study The World Beyond the Hill (1990). He also authored the Anthony Villiers series (Star Well, The Thurb Revolution, Masque World) and the influential Heinlein analysis Heinlein in Dimension, for which he received a Hugo Award for Best Fan Writer in 1967. His works blended innovative fiction with deep literary criticism of the genre.
