Alex Garland

Alexander Medawar Garland (born 26 May 1970) is an English author who rose to prominence with his debut novel The Beach (1996), which sold nearly 700,000 copies and was translated into 25 languages, establishing him as a key voice of Generation X. His other notable literary works include The Tesseract (1998) and The Coma (2004), though he has no major literary awards and is better known for subsequent screenwriting and directing careers.
