Alessandro Piperno

Alessandro Piperno (born 1972 in Rome) is an Italian novelist and literary critic of Jewish descent who teaches French literature at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. His debut novel Con le peggiori intenzioni (The Worst Intentions, 2005) won the Premio Campiello for best first novel and became a bestseller, while Inseparabili (2012) earned him Italy's prestigious Premio Strega. Known for his ironic, self-referential style drawing from 19th-century literature and contemporary American authors like Philip Roth, Piperno continues to publish acclaimed works including his 2024 novel Aria di famiglia Europa Editions.
