About Alan Rabinowitz

Alan Rabinowitz (1953–2018) was an American zoologist, conservationist, and author renowned for his work protecting big cats, including establishing the world's first jaguar preserve in Belize and co-founding Panthera Corporation; he authored notable non-fiction books such as A Boy and a Jaguar (2014), Jaguar: One Man’s Struggle to Establish the First Jaguar Preserve (1986), and An Indomitable Beast (2014), and received conservation awards including the Jackson Hole Lifetime Achievement Award (2011) and International Wildlife Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award (2008), but no major literary prizes.
