Alan Johnson (born 1950) is a British author and former Labour Party politician who served as a Cabinet minister, including Home Secretary. His acclaimed memoirs, such as This Boy, which won the Orwell Prize and Ondaatje Prize, and Please, Mister Postman, which won the Specsavers National Book Awards Autobiography of the Year, recount his childhood, postal career, and political life; he has also written novels and a biography of Harold Wilson that won Best Biography by a Parliamentarian at the Westminster Book Awards.
