Akiko Itoyama

Akiko Itoyama (絲山秋子) is a Japanese novelist born on November 22, 1966, in Setagaya, Tokyo, best known for her works exploring human relations, such as It's Only Talk, Oki de matsu, and In Pursuit of Lavender, several of which have been adapted into films. She achieved major literary success by winning the prestigious Akutagawa Prize in 2006 for "Oki de matsu," the Kawabata Yasunari Prize in 2004, and the Tanizaki Prize in 2016 for Hakujō.
