About Adrian Matejka
Adrian Matejka (born 1971) is an American poet born in Nuremberg, Germany to a U.S. military family and raised primarily in Indianapolis, Indiana. His most notable work, The Big Smoke (2013), won the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award and was a finalist for the National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize in Poetry; other key collections include Mixology (National Poetry Series winner), Map to the Stars, and Somebody Else Sold the World. He has received fellowships from the Guggenheim, Lannan, and NEA foundations, served as Indiana Poet Laureate (2018-2019), and has been editor of Poetry magazine since 2022.
