A. Van Jordan (born 1965 in Akron, Ohio) is an American poet, professor at Stanford University, and former Robert Hayden Collegiate Professor at the University of Michigan. He is the author of several poetry collections, including Rise (2001), M-A-C-N-O-L-I-A (2005), Quantum Lyrics (2007), The Cineaste (2013), and When I Waked, I Cried to Dream Again (2023), with works influenced by music, film, race, history, and pop culture. His honors include the Whiting Writers' Award, Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, Pushcart Prize, Guggenheim Fellowship, and Lannan Literary Award in Poetry.
