A. B. Guthrie

Alfred Bertram "Bud" Guthrie Jr. (1901-1991) was an American author renowned for his Western novels depicting the settlement of the American West, most notably the trilogy The Big Sky (1947), The Way West (1949)—which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction—and These Thousand Hills (1956); he also wrote the Oscar-nominated screenplay for Shane (1953).
